The Mass Transit Blue Line rail system will start running in August, according to the managing director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo.
A statement claims that Akinajo made this claim in his keynote speech at the first LAMATA business/investors summit held in Lagos.
The initial phase of the Red Line rail system's testing and passenger operation was scheduled to start that same month, the agency continued.
On January 25, the Blue Line rail system's initial phase was inaugurated by the former President Muhammadu Buhari.
"We are wrapping up all testing procedures in preparation for the start of full passenger operations in August of this year," Akinajo stated. The activities' specifics will shortly be made public.
"The first segment of the LRMT Red Line (Agbado to Oyingbo) is also almost finished, and testing and passenger service are scheduled to start in August 2023."
