The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has announced that President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate a 30-kilometre section of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, which is over 70% complete, prior to May 25.
While addressing State House Correspondents after the fifth Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Monday, Umahi also disclosed that an additional 10 kilometres of Section Two of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway will be inaugurated by President Tinubu.
Furthermore, the minister indicated that 10 kilometres of the Sokoto-Badagry road project, completed with concrete in the Kebbi area, will also be inaugurated before the May 25 deadline.
“I am thrilled to announce that the loan aspect of this project was evaluated by Deutsche Bank and the Development Bank of South Africa.
They assessed all bid documents and found the procurement process to be commendable, even stating that it was undervalued. They conveyed this information to the Minister of Finance in the U.S. and reaffirmed their findings during our inspection of the road,” he stated.
Umahi noted that the cost of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project has gone through international scrutiny, and all involved parties are satisfied with the project's details and integrity.
