In an effort to enhance healthcare services, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has contributed N200 million to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH).
This donation was made on Saturday during the unveiling of the Patience Umo Eno Antenatal Complex on the hospital grounds. Governor Eno stated that this contribution is part of his government’s initiative to revitalize the healthcare sector within the state.
He mentioned that N200 million will be allocated to improve medical services at the facility, while N10 million is earmarked for health insurance for underprivileged patients.
“On behalf of my family, I would like to convey our heartfelt gratitude to you, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Emem Bassey, along with the management and staff of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, for honoring my family by naming and dedicating this antenatal complex in memory of my late wife and former First Lady, H.E. Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno,” he expressed.
The Governor praised Prof. Emem Bassey, the Chief Medical Director of UUTH, for his innovative initiatives at the hospital, promising ongoing support from the government.
Prof. Bassey, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s many contributions to the hospital, affirming that the donation will significantly enhance healthcare services in the state.
He stated, “Today, we come together to honor and remember a remarkable woman who cared deeply for the underprivileged and made a substantial impact on many lives as a mother, wife, pastor, and First Lady of our state during her time on this earth.”
He highlighted that the complex includes a furnished ward, private rooms, consulting rooms, call rooms, offices, a mini laboratory, a pharmacy, a medical records unit, and a family planning unit.
The unveiling of the Patience Umo Eno Antenatal Complex is part of the Governor’s commitment to honor the memory of his late wife.
