BAUCHI, Nigeria (NAN) - The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has announced that the Nigerian Army has adopted new strategies and methods to overcome the nation’s foes and combat terrorism.
He made this statement during a firepower demonstration for the 2025 Combat Arms Training Week (CAT) on Wednesday in Bauchi.
Speaking through Maj.-Gen. Henry Wesley, Commander of the Ordnance Corps, Oluyede mentioned that the federal government has acquired equipment and weaponry to address insurgency and terrorism challenges in the country.
He emphasized that President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Army are committed to implementing positive changes in military operations.
“This event is crucial as we have discussed strategies, operations, and tactics, and ultimately, the effectiveness of these discussions will be evident at the forefront of our efforts. It was essential for all participants to witness the capabilities we are employing to conduct various operations,” he stated.
Oluyede expressed confidence that adversaries would feel the impact soon, noting that “the government has invested in a significant amount of equipment and weapons, some of which are already deployed in the field while others are on their way.”
Oluyede further remarked that the firepower demonstration is vital for familiarizing participants with the latest capabilities the army is utilizing for different operations.
Maj.-Gen. Obinna Ajunwa, Commander of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, added that the week-long event has served as a platform to address critical issues impacting combat arms operations.
