During a press briefing in Sulphur on Sunday, Charles McCall, the speaker of the Oklahoma State House of Representatives, asserted the resilience of the affected areas, stating, “We will rise, we’ll clean up, we’ll rebuild and we’ll move forward.”
Governor Kevin Stitt, during his visit to Sulphur, expressed shock at the extent of the devastation, remarking, “You just can’t believe the destruction.”
The White House disclosed that US President Joe Biden had conversed with Governor Stitt, extending the federal government’s unwavering support in the wake of the catastrophe.
While the threat of tornadoes appears to have diminished, meteorologist Brandon Buckingham from the commercial forecaster AccuWeather warns of the continued possibility of damaging winds and hail, particularly across north-eastern Texas, northern Louisiana, Arkansas, and southern Missouri.
