Who Can Apply?
All international students from any country can apply for the American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship.
However, students who are US citizens, US permanent residents, and dual citizens of the US or another country cannot apply for this program. Moreover, students who graduated from secondary school earlier than 2022 are not eligible to apply.
Eligibility Criteria for American University EGLS 2023-24
The eligibility criteria of American University EGLS for the applicants is following:
- Students studying in secondary or high school education who are expected to graduate by June 2024 can apply.
- Applicants in the IB system should either graduate with a diploma or opt for at least 3 HL subjects.
- Students studying Cambridge A-levels must complete 13 years of study with 3 A levels before August 2024.
- To be eligible, applicants should have a minimum 3.8 GPA out of 4.0 from 9th to 12th grade.
- Applicants should show commitment to leadership, volunteerism, community services, and the development of their homeland.
- Preference will be given to students from diverse underdeveloped backgrounds who faced multiple difficulties.
- To fulfill English language requirements, the applicant must have at least one of the following:
- 95+ TOEFL iBT (24+ subscore on paper-based and 20+ in other categories).
- 7.0+ IELTS (all subscores must be 6.0 or above).
- 33 or above in the SAT Reading subscore.
- 29 or above in ACT English.
- 65 or above in PTE.
- 600+ paper-based TOEFL (taken after May 31, 2018).
- Sub-scores of 24+ on the paper-based TOEFL (Taken after May 31, 2018).
- 120+ on Duolingo (110+ subscores in all categories).
- 185+ in Cambridge Assessment Test (169+ in all subscores).

The American University selects one student for Emerging Global Leadership Scholarship to pursue an undergraduate degree in the US. The benefits of this prestigious and highly competitive scholarship are:

The scholarship is renewable for four years of undergraduate based on continued satisfactory academic performance.
Note: The scholarship does not cover non-billable expenses such as mandatory healthcare insurance, books, airfare, food, and miscellaneous expenses.
How to Apply?
To apply for the American University EGL scholarship USA, do the following:
- Fill out an online AU EGLS application form on the official website.
- Upload bank letter and AU-Certifications of Finances form on the Future Eagle portal.
- Send your official English Proficiency Test scores directly to American University Undergraduate Admissions.
- Fill out the Common Application online and submit the required documents.
Note: AU EGLS applicants must apply through Regular Decision for fall. Applications through Early Decision will not be entertained.

The American University will open applications for Emerging Global Leader Scholarship from September 15, 2023.
