The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), which has a presence in Nigeria, has announced that it will stop manually stamping or confirming candidate certificates for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), which has been administered since 1999.
This comes after the Digital Certificate Platform was introduced by the testing organization. To reduce the backlogs caused by the manual access and confirmation system, the general public and stakeholders have been asked to make use of the digital certificate platform.
In a statement, the council's interim head of public affairs, Moyosola Adesina, said;
"Candidates may view, download, and distribute their original WAEC certificates using the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform. Additionally, institutions and organizations can quickly and securely authenticate the credentials of candidates.
"Take note that certificates shared and accessed through the site are real and came from the WAEC database.
"We kindly request that organizations, institutions, agencies, embassies, high commissions, and others provide email addresses for the digital sharing, receiving, and verification of certificates."
