The Olu of Ilaro and the paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his approval of the official gazette of the Act that elevates the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro in Ogun State to the status of a Federal University of Technology.
In a statement made on Sunday, the monarch hailed this development as "historic and a significant leap that heralds a new era for the educational and socio-economic growth of Yewaland, Ogun West, and Ogun State as a whole."
It is important to note that in May 2025, Tinubu enacted the law that created the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro, transitioning the existing federal polytechnic into a fully-fledged university.
Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, who announced the news, commended Tinubu for this groundbreaking decision and also congratulated the bill's sponsor, Senator Solomon Adeola from Ogun West, along with the state's residents.
Reacting to the official gazette of the newly formed university, the monarch expressed, "On behalf of the wonderful people of Yewaland, I extend our sincere gratitude to Distinguished Senator (Aremo) Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) for his tireless efforts and strategic advocacy in bringing this long-cherished vision to fruition.
The fact that the gazette is published in Senator Adeola's birthday month renders it even more meaningful.
The gazette of FUTI is the perfect birthday present for generations of Ogun West sons and daughters, who now have a Federal University to proudly call their own.
We also offer heartfelt thanks to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his responsive leadership and nationalistic attitude in signing the Bill and ensuring its publication in the official gazette.
This milestone illustrates what can be achieved when a devoted leader takes action, our royal institutions raise their voices, and the community unites in hope and resolve.
We warmly congratulate the good people of Yewaland and Ogun West on this significant achievement and eagerly anticipate the swift implementation and initiation of academic activities at the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro."
