Former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has sent his congratulations to former military President Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd) as he celebrates his 84th birthday.
In a goodwill message released on Saturday by his media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan recognized Babangida's contributions to Nigeria’s unity and development.
The ex-President referred to Babangida as a “remarkable leader,” emphasizing the lasting impact he has had on Nigeria’s political and economic landscape.
Jonathan remarked, “On this special occasion of your 84th birthday, I celebrate your remarkable life, leadership, and dedication to our nation’s growth and progress.”
He highlighted Babangida's significant role as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1985 to 1993, particularly in stabilizing the country during turbulent times and guiding it through significant economic and political changes.
Jonathan stated that Babangida has made crucial contributions to the nation’s unity and progress.
“Through your efforts in stabilizing the nation during challenging times and guiding Nigeria through critical periods, you have left an indelible mark on our history,” he noted.
Furthermore, Jonathan expressed his hope that Babangida’s legacy would continue to inspire future generations to uphold the principles of unity, peace, and sustainable development.
He also conveyed his personal wishes to the former leader, stating, “On behalf of my family, I extend my warmest wishes for long life in good health, happiness, and continued blessings.”
