President Bola Tinubu has reached Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for a brief stopover before embarking on a working visit to Japan and Brazil.
He landed at Al-Maktoum International Airport around 10:10 p.m. on Friday, having departed from Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 11:15 a.m. that same day.
According to a statement released by his spokesman, Bayo Onannuga, on Wednesday, Tinubu's first significant engagement will take place in Yokohama, Japan, where he will participate in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) from August 20 to 22.
The conference, under the theme “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,” aims to discuss strategies for Africa’s economic growth, attracting private investment, and fostering a resilient and sustainable continent rooted in peace and human security.
The President is also scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with Japanese leaders and interact with key executives from companies that have substantial investments in Nigeria during the summit.
Following his time in Japan, Tinubu will head to Brazil for the next portion of his working trip.
Among those who accompanied the President to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport were Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
