On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu promised that his administration will allocate more funds to the education sector.
Regardless of their circumstances, the leader promised to make sure every Nigerian child had access to a high-quality education.
Tinubu gave the speech when he met with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) leadership at the State House in Abuja.
He emphasized the transforming potential of education in overcoming poverty by saying that poverty should not be a barrier to education.
The President said that every kid, even the son or daughter of traders, should have access to the best possible education.
"If we all agree that investing in education is the best way to combat poverty, then we must do it.
"You can shoulder the rest of the burden if you end poverty in one household. Nobody should be stopped by poverty," he insisted.
Tinubu asked the student body to foster cohesion among its members all throughout the nation and pledged to take NANS' concerns into consideration.
The president counseled them to support unity and hold elections and programs using democratic procedures.
"Anyone who is unable to accept and celebrate a free and fair election does not deserve the joy of victory," Tinubu said in a recitation of a line from his Democracy Day address.
