The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and Benin Republic have agreed to establish a single border point at Segbana/Tsamiya border to improve trade and simplify business operations between the two countries.
The NCS Controller in Kebbi State, Iheanacho Ernest Ojike, said during the agreement signing at Sebgana Border in Benin Republic that both countries had agreed to develop methods to create a single border point to enhance trade and streamline business activities.
Ojike believed that once the much anticipated establishment of this single border post is achieved, the social and economic challenges in the two countries will be a thing of the past.
Comments from the relevant authorities and representatives of the Segbana/Tsamiya border committee indicated that the border opening would enhance the economic activities of both countries.
They commended both federal and state governments for initiating the action to bring succour and livelihood to people of the two countries by agreeing to establish an international registered one-stop border post.
