The University of Lagos, UNILAG, Akoka, Lagos State, has reportedly made an adjustment to its undergraduate fees,
This was stated in a recent statement issued on July 20, 2023, by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), UNILAG branch.
The decision came after a meeting with the top management staff of the university.
According to the statement, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, announced the increase in fees for UNILAG undergraduate students.
Previously, students paid N19,000, but now the new fees have been fixed at N190,250 for those studying medicine, while courses that require laboratory and studio will cost N140,250.
The statement further clarified that students without lab and studio usage will be charged N100,750, while those with lab usage will pay N140,250, and students in the College of Medicine will pay N190,250.
During the meeting, a representative of SSANU, Rasaki Yusuf, requested a rebate for staff members with children attending the university.
However, the Vice-Chancellor insisted that the new charges were set nationally and couldn't be modified for specific categories of students.
Nonetheless, Ogunsola provided the option of paying the fees in instalments, with a condition to pay up to one month before final exams.
