The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla, has reiterated the Nigerian Navy’s dedication to civil-military collaboration with the launch of a Special Intervention Quick Impact Project in Kofar Na’isa, located in the Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
This initiative, arranged by Rear Adm. Bashir Mohammed, a local resident, involved a complete renovation of Kofar Na’isa Primary School.
The upgrades included fixing run-down classrooms, toilets, doors, and windows, installing a new water supply system, and repainting the school's building. Representing Ogalla, Rear Adm. Emmanuel Anakwe, Commandant of the Nigerian Navy Logistics College in Kano, characterized the initiative as a step towards strengthening bonds with civil communities.
“We aspire to develop closer relationships and make significant contributions to national progress in alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Special Quick Intervention Project, initiated in 2024, serves as a means to realize our revitalized civil-military cooperation goals. These actions highlight the Nigerian Navy’s pledge to serve the populace beyond conventional security responsibilities,” he stated.
Ogalla praised Rear Adm. Bashir Mohammed for launching and facilitating the project, calling it a commendable and humanitarian act.
“This initiative not only aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision but also mirrors Vice Adm. Ogalla’s leadership in bridging the gap between the military and civil society,” he continued.
Ogalla urged the Kofar Na’isa community to take care of and sustain the facilities for continued use, and he encouraged residents of Kano and surrounding areas to work with security forces to maintain peace.
In preceding remarks, Rear Adm. Bashir Mohammed described the project as an important milestone for the Nigerian Navy, the people of Kano, and humanity at large.
He noted that the initiative was authorized by the CNS as a token of appreciation for the contributions and sacrifices made by Kano natives in the Navy.
“This project was approved by the Chief of the Naval Staff as a gesture of gratitude for the commitment of the sons and daughters of this state in the Navy and to honor me upon reaching the pinnacle of my career,” he remarked.
Mohammed mentioned that the project aligns with the CNS’s vision for fostering development, enhancing civil-military relations, and improving national security. “This was selected to enhance the educational environment for the community’s children,” he added.
Additionally, Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf stressed the importance of collective efforts to rejuvenate the state’s education sector.
Represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security, retired AVM Ibrahim Umar, he urged communities to assume responsibility for public schools in their areas.
He called on charitable individuals and stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at enhancing education.
The Governor acknowledged the Chief of the Naval Staff and the project facilitator for their efforts in improving educational infrastructure in Kano, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to providing quality education for all children in the region.
