The Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has officially made a permanent move to Galatasaray, the champions of the Turkish Super Ligue, in a record-breaking transfer worth €75 million from SSC Napoli, as announced by the club on Thursday.
This high-profile transfer wraps up a lengthy two-year saga between Osimhen and Napoli, which escalated to the point where he was excluded from the squad at the beginning of last season.
The 26-year-old forward for the Super Eagles spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray, where he flourished with 37 goals and 8 assists in 41 matches, contributing to the team's domestic league and cup double.
According to a statement shared on its social media channels, Galatasaray confirmed: “An agreement has been reached regarding the transfer of professional footballer Victor James Osimhen with his former club, SSC Napoli SPA.
A net transfer fee of €75,000,000 will be paid to the player's previous club.” As part of a four-year contract, Osimhen will earn €15 million annually, along with an extra €1 million loyalty bonus and €5 million in image rights.
Additionally, Napoli will receive 10% of any profit from a future transfer. The agreement includes a clause that prevents Osimhen from joining any Serie A team for the next two years.
Expressing his excitement after the official confirmation, Osimhen stated that he was delighted to be part of Galatasaray again: “I’m really happy to be back with the Galatasaray family.
First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to my President and Vice President.
We have a very positive squad right now. I believe that next season, with the quality of both myself and my teammates, we will achieve even greater success.
We will give our all on the pitch, not just in the league and cup, but also in the Champions League, which is one of our main objectives.”
Osimhen’s transfer is now the most expensive in Turkish football history, further solidifying his position as one of the most valued African footballers worldwide.
