The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has shown his dedication to healthcare and education by donating N10 million to the Grimard College of Nursing Sciences in Anyigba, Kogi State.
The generous donation was presented during his visit to the institution on Monday.
In a statement released on Tuesday via X, Obi emphasized the crucial role of the college in Nigeria’s primary healthcare sector, stating that the institution has been instrumental in training and nurturing healthcare professionals who positively impact society.
As a former governor of Anambra State, Obi reiterated his advocacy for increased investment in health and education, urging governments at all levels and donor agencies to prioritize these areas.
He highlighted the significance of nursing education, expressing concern about a potential shortage of nurses and emphasizing the need for proactive measures to address this issue.
Obi expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the college’s management and staff in training healthcare professionals and encouraged the nursing students to remain focused on their studies.
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to building a New Nigeria that provides access to quality healthcare and educational opportunities for all Nigerians.
