MTN Nigeria has said digital learning initiative will boost and revolutionise education in Nigeria
It brought together different stakeholders in the education sector to discuss and foster collaborative idea generation to enhance digital learning for pupils.
Speaking at the engagement, founder of Passnownow.com and lead consultant of #MTNFGDonED, Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, described education as the cornerstone of national development.
She stressed the necessity for concerted efforts among stakeholders to create value and find solutions to educational challenges.
“With our mobile phones, we want to completely revolutionise how we deliver learning in a seamless way to the Nigerian child.
MTN wants to work in the digital space to co-create and transform its approach to delivering education,” she stated.
Akerele-Ogunsiji added that digital proficiency hinges on people’s capacity to learn independently.
Speaking to journalists, Chief Digital Officer, MTN Nigeria, Aisha Mumuni, emphasised the importance of accountability in government policy formulation and advocated closer collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Mumuni noted, “Engagements like this start with intent. Nigerians often rely heavily on the government, forgetting it cannot tackle issues alone. The private sector must ask what we can do and how we can contribute, striving to bridge the gap through ongoing dialogue.”
UNICEF Chief Field Officer, Celine Lafoucriere revealed that UNICEF’s digital learning initiative, the Nigeria Learning Passport, aimed at ensuring uninterrupted access to education, was now operational in 19 states nationwide.
“Numerous digital solutions are at our disposal. We should explore potential partnerships with MTN,” she remarked.
