Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, is a Nigerian chef and restaurateur who set a new record for the longest solo cooking marathon by cooking continuously for more than four days.
In order to greatly surpass Lata Tandon's 2019 record of 87 hours and 45 minutes, the chef first set out to cook for 96 hours. She was inspired to prolong her effort to 100 hours and 40 minutes, shattering the record by more than 13 hours, as the 96th hour drew near.
Over 200 dinners were made during Hilda's Cook-a-thon, which began on May 11 and lasted late on May 15 and fed over 4,000 people.
Hilda Baci remarked, "I am so amazed at the outpouring of love from Nigerians towards achieving this record," while expressing gratitude for the love and support. "I had to pray to God for strength throughout the first six hours because they were the hardest for me.
"I thank everyone who took the time to support and cheer me on by coming to the location to show their support or by starting the conversation on social media.
"I sincerely appreciate your constant dedication to helping me succeed in this endeavor. I am thankful for my family, the several teams who collaborated with me on this project, and the worldwide supporters that kept the enthusiasm alive."
