Nova Merchant Bank Appoints Adebowale Oyedeji As New Ceo

NOVA Merchant Bank Limited has announced the appointment of Mr. Adebowale Oyedeji as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. The appointment received the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) approval.

A seasoned professional, Oyedeji succeeds Nath Ude, whose tenure concluded on November 6 of the previous year. Oyedeji brings a wealth of experience, having held executive positions both within Nigeria and internationally.

Notably, he served as the MD/CEO of Guaranty Trust Bank UK, a subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Bank Group, from 2008 to 2011. Subsequently, he held the position of Executive Director at Guaranty Trust Bank Group from 2011 to 2018. Oyedeji also contributed his expertise as an Independent Non-Executive Director (INED) on the Board of Stanbic-IBTC from 2020 to the past year.

Expressing his gratitude, Oyedeji stated, "I am honored to be the pioneer Chief Executive Officer of the proposed NOVA Commercial Bank, which is set to positively change the entire banking landscape."

Phillips Oduoza, Chairman of NOVA Merchant Bank, emphasized the significance of Oyedeji's appointment, stating, "This appointment is a reinforcement of the bank’s belief that with the right people and leadership, using technology and innovation, the bank will compete favorably for market share in the commercial and retail banking space."

Oyedeji, an alumnus of the University of Ibadan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics, further holds an M.Sc. degree in Financial Economics from the University of London and completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School (HBS). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and an Honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (HCIB).
