Adeola, the 41-year-old daughter of renowned Yoruba actress Jumoke George, has been located in Mali after being missing for four years.
Jumoke previously mentioned her daughter's disappearance during an interview on the Talk to B show hosted by actress Abiola Bayo.
She revealed that Adeola had been living with her grandmother in Ibadan and was last seen when she informed the family about her trip to Lagos.
According to Jumoke, Adeola later reached out, sought forgiveness, and explained that she had traveled abroad with friends in pursuit of better opportunities.
During the same interview, Jumoke shared her struggles with serious health and financial difficulties, which had hindered her ability to take on acting roles, resulting in her having to refund payments and borrow money for medical expenses.
She mentioned the need for further medical tests, estimated to cost around N400,000.
She elaborated that any income from her sporadic work went towards the search for her missing daughter.
Tearfully speaking on the TalkToB show, Jumoke confessed that she had concealed her struggles due to embarrassment and fear of public judgment.
She expressed, “There are certain things that are hard to admit, but at this juncture, I have no option. I want to talk about it. I work, but it’s not as if jobs come in regularly.”
“Sometimes, it could take three to four months for a job to come. That was before I fell ill. Once I got sick, I couldn’t attend a set I was invited to. I was paid last year, not anticipating my illness, and I ended up using the money for treatment. I even had to borrow money to return the payment to the person,” she explained.
“I went to another location, but I couldn’t work. They had to send me back due to my health issues. I’ve undergone numerous tests and have been advised to do more, which will cost about N400,000. I’m unsure where to find that money.”
“My eldest child, Adeola, has been missing, and I’ve been searching for her for the last four years. Any small sum I earn from work has gone towards searching for her.
She was living and working in Ibadan with my mother, who called me one day to say she hadn’t seen Deola, as she was supposed to come to Lagos. I told her that I hadn’t seen her either,” Jumoke recounted.
In a recent update shared on Wednesday, Talk to B host Biola Bayo announced that Adeola had been found in Mali.
She mentioned speaking with Adeola via video call, noting that while Adeola had not yet spoken directly to her mother, Jumoke was relieved to learn that she was alive.
Biola also confirmed that Jumoke George is currently receiving treatment at a state hospital in Lagos and is awaiting further medical evaluations.
Sharing details of her video call with Adeola on Instagram, Biola Bayo said, “I finally got to speak with Adeola, and this is what she relayed. She hasn’t contacted her mom, but Mom is glad she’s safe.”
She said Jumoke George is presently at a state hospital in Lagos. We hope she will either be discharged or admitted after completing all her medical tests and reports. The situation is still uncertain. Thank you to everyone for the support.”
