The chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Olufunke Hassan, has dismissed the chairmanship primary results released by the Lagos Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling it a sham.
She asserted that no genuine primary took place, but rather a selection process for candidates ahead of the upcoming council elections in the state.
In a statement following the event, the council leader, who took over after the previous chairman's passing, accused Iyabo Akerele, the party chairperson of Onigbongbo LCDA, of orchestrating the candidate imposition within the APC.
She noted, "I have been informed of the imposition of Moyosore Adebanjo as the APC Chairman Candidate for Onigbongbo LCDA.
This candidacy was established through a questionable process of imposition that contradicts the established practices of electing a party candidate, either through consensus or party primary. Internal democracy within a political party demands that all candidates must participate in approved primaries, rejecting any form of imposition."
Furthermore, she described the events that unfolded at the APC party state Secretariat in Lagos, alleged to be manipulated by Iyabo Akerele and her associates, as a superficial display lacking both moral integrity and legal backing.
"It embodies a disgraceful maneuver and an attempt to suppress opposition, which will not be tolerated. I completely reject this process; justice will ultimately prevail."
