Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sanctioned the creation of the Apapa Central Business Office to address infrastructure maintenance issues and promote a favorable business climate.
The Governor's Special Adviser on CBD, Bola Olumegbon-Lawal, shared this information on Thursday during the ongoing press briefing commemorating the second anniversary of Sanwo-Olu's second term.
Olumegbon-Lawal highlighted the significant positive changes under the Governor's guidance, which have greatly enhanced Lagos's infrastructure and economy.
She outlined the active initiatives by the Lagos Central Business Districts (CBD) aimed at fostering a business-friendly environment.
According to her, the objectives of the CBD include efficient traffic management, environmental sanitation, and curbing illegal street trading.
The Special Adviser also showcased collaborative efforts with several agencies, including the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, to ensure safety and regulatory compliance within business districts.
She called on stakeholders to actively back government initiatives to further invigorate Lagos's commercial areas.
Olumegbon-Lawal spoke about the CBD's strategic focus on enhancing traffic management, waste services, and the visual appeal of business districts such as Lagos Island and Ikeja.
She noted the ongoing removal of illegal structures and the enforcement of a “No Street Trading” policy to promote orderly commerce.
The Special Adviser emphasized the significance of stakeholder engagement, mentioning regular meetings with transport unions and market leaders to encourage collaboration.
She assured the public of the government's dedication to upholding safety and order, urging all Lagosians to follow traffic and environmental regulations.
