The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have initiated an investigation into the reported technical issues, following numerous complaints regarding inadequate performance during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
This information was released on Monday by the board’s public communications advisor, Fabian Benjamin.
He noted that the board is collaborating with university vice-chancellors and IT professionals to identify the root causes and ensure that affected candidates receive appropriate remedies if any errors are verified.
Benjamin added that the board is accelerating its annual system review, a thorough analysis of the examination process usually conducted months after the event. This review will focus on three main areas: registration, examination, and investigation results.
He mentioned that the board is particularly concerned about unusual complaints from certain states and is closely examining these issues to uncover and rectify any technical problems.
“To aid in this process, we have brought together various experts, including members of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners (who are heads of tertiary institutions), the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa, measurement specialists, and vice-chancellors from different institutions.
“If it is confirmed that glitches did occur, we will quickly implement suitable corrective measures, as we do in the case of the examinations themselves,” he stated.
