COLUMBUS, Ind. — A tragic accident claimed the life of Indianapolis resident Omotope G. Oyediran, 45, at an Interstate 65 rest area in Bartholomew County on Saturday morning.
Indiana State Police responded to the crash around 9:45 a.m. on November 2. According to the initial investigation, Oyediran was driving her 2011 Honda CRV southbound near mile marker 73 when, for an unknown reason, her vehicle veered off the west side of the roadway. It subsequently entered the Columbus rest area, colliding with a 2020 International semi-truck parked with a loaded trailer. The driver of the semi, who was in the sleeper cabin, was unharmed.
Sources close to the family shared that Oyediran may have been returning from Kentucky, where she had been assisting in preparing food for an event the previous night. This source mentioned that Oyediran may not have had adequate rest before the journey, potentially contributing to the circumstances of the accident.
The Indiana State Police investigation remains ongoing, and toxicology tests have been conducted, with results pending. Further details will be provided as they become available.
