A female journalist from Ogun State Television (OGTV) in Abeokuta, Bukola Agbakaizu, passed away on Monday after collapsing while getting ready for her afternoon shift at the station.
The Ogun State Council Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bunmi Adigun, confirmed her death.
Agbakaizu, aged 52, served as an ex-officio member of the council prior to her passing.
The announcement stated: "Agbakaizu, a committed employee of Ogun State Television, unfortunately collapsed while preparing for her afternoon duty, and despite attempts to resuscitate her, she was declared dead upon arrival at the Federal Medical Centre.
A skilled journalist and fervent advocate, Bukola was a former Vice Chairman of the OGTV Chapel and played a crucial role in the Wale Olanrewaju-led Executive.
Her lively spirit and dedication to journalism will be profoundly missed, leaving a significant gap in our community.
She is survived by her two children, her elderly mother, and numerous colleagues and friends who are grieving her loss."
