The United States has issued a strong warning to its people in Nigeria, stating there are "elevated threats" to big hotels in its "larger cities."
The United States provided this warning in an emergency message for the American people dated November 3.
According to the advice, Nigerian security services are working to address the threat.
It advised US citizens to be vigilant at significant hotels, be aware of their surroundings, maintain a low profile, and examine the Nigeria travel advisory before checking into any hotels.
The notice reads, “The U.S. Government is aware of credible information that there is an elevated threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities.
“The Nigerian security services are working diligently to counter the threat.

The notice also provided the addresses and telephone numbers of the US embassy in Abuja and the consulate in Lagos, should any US citizen require help.
Recall that the US, in October, also advised all its citizens worldwide to exercise restraint when traveling to various locations worldwide. Nigeria was listed under the third tier of caution alert (reconsider travel) even though it seems to be the most hospitable country in West Africa.
