The Tanzanian Football Federation has strongly criticized the Algerian national team coach, Adel Amrouche, for making provocative statements and levying unfounded accusations against the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
Tanzania Football Federation President Wallace Karia conveyed the federation's disapproval of Amrouche's remarks, stating, "We don't support the statement by our head coach Adel Amrouche after the coach accused Morocco of dominating African football and organizing referees who officiate in their matches." Karia made these comments in an interview with local media outlet Azam TV.
Asserting Tanzania's respect for Morocco's contributions to football development, Karia emphasized, "We categorically do not support the statement as we respect Morocco for their hard work in developing football and will know what to do in regards to the coach’s careless and provocative statement."
Amrouche had accused the FRMF before the match with Tanzania, alleging that Morocco wielded undue influence in African football affairs. Specifically, he claimed that the Moroccan federation compelled Tanzania to play their recent match in the evening against their preference for an early afternoon kickoff.
"Currently, the FRMF is a confirmed power in the African football world. They manage and determine everything, including referees," Amrouche asserted, fueling tensions between the two footballing nations.
As the dispute unfolds, the condemnation from the Tanzanian Football Federation highlights the sensitivity surrounding allegations that challenge the integrity of football governance in Africa. The incident underscores the delicate balance required in managing relations between national football bodies within the continent.
