Palestinian Doctor Says Israeli Strike On Un School Killed 27

POSTED ON November 23, 2023 •   GLOBAL NEWS      BY Segun Adewole

A Palestinian doctor reported on Thursday that at least 27 individuals lost their lives, and 93 others sustained injuries in an Israeli strike on a United Nations school in Gaza. The strike targeted a UN-run school in Jabalia, the largest refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, where thousands of displaced Palestinians sought refuge, as revealed by a doctor from a hospital in the camp who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The heartbreaking incident underscores the humanitarian crisis gripping the region, with civilian casualties mounting as violence escalates. The United Nations, often seen as a sanctuary for those displaced by conflict, has become a tragic focal point of the Israel-Hamas war, with the strikes hitting at the heart of communities seeking safety.

As news of the strike emerged, there was no immediate comment from the Israeli military. The absence of an official response leaves unanswered questions about the circumstances surrounding the strike and the potential collateral impact on civilians caught in the crossfire.

International concern over the humanitarian toll of the conflict continues to grow, with the tragic incident at the UN school amplifying calls for an immediate ceasefire and diplomatic solutions to protect civilian lives. The global community watches closely, grappling with the urgent need to address the escalating crisis and find a path towards de-escalation in the interest of human safety and security.

In another development, the Iran-backed Hezbollah group ratcheted up its attacks on Israel from southern Lebanon on Thursday, further inflaming an already volatile situation. Israeli bombardments responded in kind, resulting in the deaths of seven Hezbollah fighters, including members of an elite unit.
