Members of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals in Ile-Ife, Osun State, held a peaceful demonstration on the hospital premises on Monday to raise concerns about their welfare.
The doctors carried banners and placards with messages calling for improved welfare, well-equipped facilities, and addressing issues related to illegal doctors.
They also expressed their dissatisfaction with the working environment in the hospital and gave the management a four-week ultimatum to address their grievances or face potential industrial unrest.
The president of the ARD OAUTHC chapter, Dr. Ibukunoluwa Enesi, stated that the association had no choice but to take this action due to the management's failure to address their demands.
He also highlighted the salary arrears owed to a significant number of doctors and emphasized the need for the management to take urgent action to resolve those issues.
