The intention to raise power rates by 40% by July 1 was revealed on Thursday by NLC President Joe Ajaero, who said: "The plan is both insensitive and callous and reflects an organized indifference to the well-being of consumers, especially the poor ones."
He said, "The issues of ability to pay and service delivery quality are not only pertinent but also superior to any justification by market logic. The service providers have not been able to reach the 5000-megawatt benchmark despite various forms of help.
