The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, Khalil Halilu, has emphasized the importance of effective resource control to the agency’s finance managers.
Halilu made this statement on Tuesday during the opening of a one-day sensitization workshop on Government Integrated Financial Management Information System policy and guidelines for financial managers of NASENI.
The workshop, which was held at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja in collaboration with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, aimed to improve financial management practices for NASENI principal officers, directors, managing directors, and accounting officers system-wide.
According to a statement by the Deputy Director of Information, Chima Akwaja, NASENI stressed the need for accurate financial record-keeping and the adoption of innovative processes as outlined in the GIFMIS policy.
A staff member responsible for handling confidential documents emphasized the importance of maintaining confidentiality in financial management and adhering to public service regulations regarding the integrity of official information.
Mr. Jeremiah Asanato, the Deputy Programme Manager of the System Support and Sustainability Directorate at OAGF, provided an overview of GIFMIS, highlighting its aim to integrate budgeting and government expenditure to address irregularities, corruption, and fraudulent activities in government agencies.
NASENI is an intervention agency with a mandate to develop a dynamic Science and Engineering infrastructure for industrialization through homegrown solutions.
