Demonstrations calling for the Israeli government to negotiate a hostage agreement with Hamas began nationwide on Sunday, as protesters blocked roads and picketed outside the homes of government officials.
The protests started at 6:29 am (0329 GMT), marking the time of Hamas' Oct. 7 attack on Israel, as reported by Israeli media.
Protesters took to the streets, causing traffic disruptions at major intersections across the country. They briefly lit fires on the main Tel Aviv-Jerusalem highway before being dispersed by police.
Efforts to broker a hostage agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza have gained traction in recent days, with officials expressing optimism while acknowledging remaining differences between the parties.
According to Israeli counts, more than 38,000 Palestinians have been killed in the offensive launched in response to Hamas' attack on southern Israel, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and over 250 hostages.
Small groups carrying megaphones and banners also demonstrated outside the residences of several ministers and coalition lawmakers.
"Complete failure! Complete failure!" chanted a small group outside the home of cabinet minister Ron Dermer, a member of Netanyahu's inner circle.
At Kibbutz Or Haner, near the Gaza border, protesters hung a black balloon for each person killed in the attack and a yellow balloon for each hostage still held in Gaza.
Some Israelis oppose the protesters' goals and are urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to reject a deal and continue fighting until all of the country's objectives are achieved.
