Fulham Defender, Issa Diop Arrested In France Over Death Threats

POSTED ON June 19, 2023 •   Uncategorized      BY Akinbohun Samuel •   VIEWS 133

Issa Diop, a football player for Fulham in the Premier League, is said to have been arrested in France for repeatedly threatening to kill his ex-partner.

According to local news source La Depeche du Midi, the Fulham defender, 26, is presently being held by police in Toulouse.

According to the report, he was taken into custody on Sunday night at approximately 8 p.m. at the Pullman Hotel in Toulouse.

According to French media, Diop and his 29-year-old spouse are presently going through a divorce, which has caused the couple to clash constantly.

Diop's ex-spouse is apparently demanding significant financial settlements from the divorce, which the former West Ham player refuses to pay.

La Depeche du Midi said that allegations made against Diop last week claimed that he suggested the prospect of "definitely getting rid of her."

Additionally, it is claimed that authorities did not approach Diop for arrest until after he had already departed London, where he currently resides.

According to the French Daily, Diop has confirmed some of the accusations made against him while maintaining that his threats were "not serious."

A local police spokesperson told The Sun that former Toulouse player Diop was being held at the city's Central Police Commisionerate.

The center-back agreed to a five-year contract with Fulham last summer following the completion of his £15 million transfer from West Ham.

He appeared in 25 Premier League games for Fulham last season, assisting them in finishing in 10th position.

"We are aware of rumors coming out of France this morning involving one of our players, Issa Diop, in order to establish the facts, we are now in contact with the player's representation, according to a Fulham statement.
