Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has made news by renaming a major route after highlife legend Mike 'Gentleman' Ejeagha.
The outstanding gift comes after a memorable visit to Ejeagha's home, when the famed artiste, famous for his 1983 song 'Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche,' was visibly impacted by the governor's presence.
Ejeagha has seen a stunning rebirth as a result of Brain Jotter's viral dance craze, which includes his music in a colorful routine in which dancers face-off, perform weird leg motions, and then pursue each other, all set for the irresistible chorus of "Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo."
This viral phenomenon has reignited interest in Ejeagha's music, bringing his timeless charm back to the spotlight.
In heartwarming video footage circulating online, Governor Mbah and his entourage were shown in Ejeagha's living room, with the governor sitting close to the musician.
Ejeagha's excitement was apparent as she was overwhelmed with honor and an outpouring of affection.
Mbah took to X (previously Twitter) to declare that his administration had not only reconstructed but also renamed Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike, Enugu, in honor of Ejeagha.
“Today, we honored a living legend, inaugurating and renaming the popular Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike Enugu, which leads to the home of Gentleman Mike Ejeagha
“Our administration purposefully rebuilt this road earlier in the year in honour our folk music legend and for the benefit of Ndi Enugu."
