Osupa ends legal battle with Portable, calls for reflection and Growth

The management team of Fuji music star, King Saheed Osupa, has officially dropped the legal action against the controversial street-pop artist Habeeb Okikiola, commonly known as Portable.

Osupa decided to withdraw from the legal proceedings after several prominent individuals appealed to the Fuji musician for compassion following Portable’s arrest pursuant to a warrant issued by a Magistrate Court in Ilorin over defamatory remarks and threats of death.

These appeals from notable figures, paired with concerns about Portable's challenges in securing bail, allegedly prompted Osupa to act compassionately.

A statement released by Osupa's management through their official social media platform on Tuesday confirmed that the decision was made by Osupa personally.

The case was initially filed due to alleged violations of intellectual property rights, defamation, and persistent public misbehavior, which Osupa's team characterized as a necessary action to enforce accountability and promote responsible conduct among emerging artists.

They emphasized that the legal steps were not motivated by personal animosity, but rather as a professional response to ongoing disrespect and violation of industry standards.

According to Osupa's management, the withdrawal signifies a willingness to allow Portable the chance to reflect, develop, and improve himself. "While accountability is essential,” they mentioned, “mercy is also a crucial aspect of leadership.”

It was stated that, “As part of this resolution, Portable must openly retract his previous statement that Osupa should be held responsible if anything occurs to him.

He should clarify that the claim made by his attorney, Chief Barrister Isaac Adebayo implying he pleaded with Osupa for forgiveness was untrue, as no such face-to-face encounter took place.”

“Portable is required to sign a written agreement committing to avoid further instances of cyberbullying, defamation, or character assaults.

Failure to abide by these conditions could lead to the case being reopened.”

Osupa reiterated his conviction in a creative industry based on mutual respect, discipline, and positive change, noting that the resolution of the matter now lies with Portable to handle in a peaceful and honorable manner.
