The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) based in Riyadh has announced that it will be conducting urgent discussions with Member States and digital economy experts to address the consequences of the global IT outage.
This outage disrupted crucial operations worldwide, impacting businesses such as airlines, banks, broadcasters, software providers, and more.
According to a statement released by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the organization, which consists of nine countries, expressed concern over the significant impact of the outage and emphasized the need for more effective and agile international digital cooperation.
The DCO highlighted the importance of developing proper policies and protocols to mitigate the risks of similar incidents in the future, especially as the world becomes increasingly reliant on digital channels and platforms.
The organization also called for a thorough examination of the incident's lessons, assessment of its impact on national digital transformation plans, and the formulation of practical steps to ensure that relevant stakeholders are prepared to handle such disruptions.
Established in November 2020 as part of Saudi Arabia's G20 presidency, the DCO focuses on promoting innovation-driven cooperation and accelerating the growth of the digital economy on an international scale.
