The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, has underscored the crucial role of the Bureau in enhancing integrity, transparency, efficiency, and accountability within Nigeria's Public Procurement Processes.
During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, articulated that the MOU aims to bolster existing collaboration between the BPP and ICPC while formally establishing mechanisms for intelligence sharing, joint investigations, and proactive measures against fraud and irregularities in public procurement.
The Chairman indicated that the MOU agreement signifies a significant move towards reinforcing integrity and transparency in the procurement sector, with the intent to eradicate persistent corruption that undermines public trust, depletes national resources, and stifles growth.
He emphasized that the MOU will function as a driving force for a transparent, accountable, and corruption-free procurement system.
Dr. Adebowale further conveyed his faith in the leadership of both ICPC and BPP, viewing it as an opportunity to serve Nigeria more effectively and to establish a commendable legacy for future generations.
He noted that the partnership between the two agencies is not aimed at pursuing adversaries or engaging in opposition, but rather focuses on the nation's best interests, aspiring to transform and execute the policies and reforms outlined in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.
The DG asserted that the MOU's implementation is essential for evaluation by all Nigerians and will provide significant advantages to both Nigerians and international stakeholders looking to invest in the country, ensuring the security of their assets.
This MOU consolidates the efforts of both agencies to maintain the principles of good governance and reaffirms their mutual commitment to fostering a more robust and prosperous Nigeria.
