A total of 30,000 active senior secondary school teachers who have been nominated by the various State Ministries of Education will serve as the exam's supervisors, he continued, adding that candidates will be tested in 76 subjects.
WAEC Official Statement
"From 20,851 secondary schools, a total of 1,621,853 candidates have enrolled for the exam. Male candidates make up 798,810 of this total, 49.25%, and female candidates make up 823,043 of the total, 50.75%.
"According to the statistics, there is a further rise in the number of females and a fall in the number of males, respectively, as compared to the diet in 2022. Overall, there were 13, 868 more candidates for the 2023 WASSCE (SC) than there were in 2022 (1,607,985)," Areghan continued.
Areghan noted that after multiple free upload periods, schools who did not submit the Continuous Assessment score within the anticipated time limit could face sanctions.
He said, "CASS score is a significant factor in determining candidates' grades in the WASSCE (SC) examination. The Council has been able to develop systems that let schools easily upload, manage, and retrieve student CASS data and make that data available to schools upon request thanks to the use of technology.
"At the moment, the Council permits upload of CASS data in SS1, SS2, and SS3, referred to as CASS Year 1, 2, and 3, at various upload intervals. The Council makes its portal available to all schools for free during each upload period and occasionally extends the upload window to allow all schools to upload. After multiple free upload periods, schools may be subject to sanctions if they don't post within the anticipated time range.
"Without a complete CASS upload, no school will have any results.
However, the Council is having trouble putting the CASS policy into practice because some schools are being uncooperative."
