The United States on Saturday said it will provide nearly $157 million humanitarian aid to assist populations affected by the ongoing conflict in Lebanon and the broader region.
This information is contained in a statement by the US State Department.
The announcement comes as Lebanon continues to struggle with the effects of ongoing regional conflict, around it's border region, including the fallout from the Syrian civil war and other crises.
According to the statement in parts: “The funding will address new and existing needs of internally displaced persons and refugee populations inside Lebanon and the communities that host them. The assistance will also support those fleeing to neighbouring Syria."
The United States’ latest humanitarian efforts aim to alleviate some of the burdens faced by displaced individuals and refugees across these conflict zones.
