In Manchester Crown Court, 19-year-old Jacob Graham from Norris Green in Liverpool, described as an admirer of the Unabomber, faces trial on charges of plotting a suicide terrorist attack with the intent to kill "at least 50" people. The prosecution alleges that Graham engaged in extensive preparations, including stockpiling bomb ingredients, conducting chemical experiments, and acquiring a 3D printer to manufacture his own firearm.
During the trial, the court heard that Graham recorded a video in which he boasted about possessing "everything I need to take down a f***ing army" and detailed his readiness to initiate a revolution. The college student reportedly created 105 videos outlining his planning and motivations, accompanied by a written "manifesto" titled "society and why it is failing." Additionally, Graham drafted a letter outlining his intentions and authored a manual referred to as the "freedom encyclopedia," dubbed his "cookbook," which contained recipes for homemade explosives aimed at aiding others in committing acts of terrorism.
Graham, who has pleaded not guilty to eight terrorism offenses allegedly committed between May 2022 and May 2023, discussed various targets during his preparations, including Hugh Baird College in Bootle, Liverpool, where he was enrolled as a student. The prosecution revealed his belief in "an eye for an eye" and cited grievances against the college as a motivating factor.
The trial brings to light the disturbing extent of Graham's alleged plans and his proactive efforts to document and disseminate his radical ideologies. As proceedings unfold, the court is expected to delve deeper into the evidence against the accused and the potential implications of his actions on national security.
