Russia carried out strikes on various regions of Ukraine overnight, with officials reporting one fatality in Dnipro. Meanwhile, Moscow reported two deaths due to a Ukrainian drone attack in the Rostov region.
Dnipro's Mayor Borys Filatov confirmed that one person died in a high-rise apartment building.
Across the border, the acting governor of Rostov stated that a drone strike caused a car fire, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, as Yuri Sliusar shared on Telegram.
Ukrainian officials in Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia noted they were targeted by Russian fire overnight.
In Dnipro, Filatov advised residents to take precautions during the attacks, stating it was unwise to remain on upper floors, especially when underground parking was available. Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov reported that his city endured continuous bombardment for nearly three hours.
He mentioned that the enemy employed various weapons simultaneously, including guided bombs, ballistic missiles, and kamikaze drones.
In Zaporizhzhia, Governor Ivan Fedorov reported multiple fires resulting from Russian drone strikes, one of which struck a residential building and another that damaged a farm warehouse.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been advocating for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate an end to the war, proposing talks by the end of August. However, the Kremlin has minimized the chances of such a meeting happening soon.
The two sides hold vastly different positions in negotiations, and Ukraine has accused Russia of sending low-level officials lacking decision-making authority.
Russia has insisted that Ukraine concede four regions it claims to have annexed, a request Ukraine deems unacceptable. Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to beseech its Western allies for increased arms to help its forces cope with the ongoing Russian assaults.
