Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar was allegedly attacked by Boko Haram.
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) confirmed the attack happened on Sunday, July 23, 2023, by suspected Boko Haram members.
In a statement released by the PDP helmsman media office on Monday, it was disclosed that the police successfully arrested four suspects involved in the plot to attack the politician's residence.
According to the statement, security operatives at Atiku Abubakar's residence apprehended a man attempting to verify the location at around 9:44 pm.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Jubrila Mohammed, confessed to being a member of Boko Haram from Damboa, Borno State.
He also revealed that he and his accomplices had intentions to target establishments linked to Atiku Abubakar, as well as other sensitive locations in Yola.
Upon interrogation, all four suspects were later handed over to military authorities for further investigation and appropriate actions.
In response to the incident, Atiku Abubakar's media office commended the police for their efforts in the ongoing investigation and urged other relevant security agencies to remain vigilant and proactive in their duties.
