The Nigeria Police Force has revealed that 151 senior officers are currently undergoing proceedings with the Force Disciplinary Committee due to various allegations of misconduct and professional violations.
These proceedings commenced on Monday, July 14, and will continue until Friday, July 25, 2025, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall located at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, this action aims to ensure internal accountability and uphold professional standards.
The officers involved, who are of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and higher, come from different commands and formations nationwide, and are being put through a “thorough and transparent review process” as per existing police guidelines and disciplinary protocols.
The statement noted, “The Force Disciplinary Committee is a crucial internal body tasked with examining and adjudicating cases of alleged breaches of professional behavior, misconduct, and ethical infractions.”
The outcomes of these hearings will be sent to the Police Service Commission for final decisions regarding suitable sanctions or exonerations, in line with the law.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reiterated his dedication to restoring discipline and integrity within the Nigeria Police Force, declaring that his administration will not allow any form of indiscipline or misconduct, irrespective of the officers' ranks or status.
He emphasized, “The Nigeria Police Force is steadfast in its commitment to fostering integrity, professionalism, and public trust.
The disciplinary process demonstrates the Force’s eagerness to maintain an accountable and service-oriented institution, where standards are upheld and the rule of law is honored from within.”
