The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau and the African Aviation and Aerospace University have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to prevent and reduce accidents in the country's transportation sector.
The statement was announced by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NSIB, Bimbo Oladeji, on Thursday.
During the ceremony at the NSIB Training School in Lagos, NSIB's Chief Executive Officer, Alex Badeh, highlighted that the MoU paves the way for sharing facilities, building capacity, and fostering collaboration between the Bureau and AAAU, stating that as part of their support, NSIB has provided AAAU with access to its facilities, enabling a seamless exchange of resources and expertise, and further strengthening the commitment to advancing aviation safety in Africa.
Badeh expressed confidence that this MoU will improve the effectiveness of their collaboration and dedication to promoting safer skies and operational excellence in Nigeria's aviation industry and beyond.
The Registrar of AAAU, represented by Masud Yerima, expressed gratitude for NSIB's invaluable support and partnership, acknowledging that AAAU's establishment and progress would have encountered significant challenges without NSIB's generous assistance.
He also praised Badeh for his outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing NSIB to greater success.
He confirmed AAAU’s willingness to participate in mutually advantageous initiatives with NSIB, ensuring the successful achievement of common goals.
The partnership represents a significant step in promoting a culture of safety and excellence within Nigeria’s aviation industry, and both NSIB and AAAU are ready to harness this collaboration for the industry's and the nation's benefit.
AAAU is the first university in Africa dedicated to aviation, aerospace, and environmental science. It addresses the research and development needs of Africa’s aviation and aerospace sectors while also developing a skilled workforce to drive them forward.
