Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has visited the scene of the accident following the unfortunate car accident that occurred along the Enugu-Onitsha expressway by the CBN bus stop, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, on Thursday. The accident was allegedly caused by wrong overtaking and left some people dead and others injured.
After thereafter, Governor Ugwuanyi visited the ESUT Teaching Hospital in Parklane, Enugu, in the company of his deputy, Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, to express sympathy to the accident survivors and make sure they are getting the proper medical care.
The governor expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased, felt compassion for the survivors, and instructed the hospital's administration to use all available medical resources to assure the survivors' survival.
As a result, he said that the state government will pay for the victims' medical expenses and take other required actions to assure their well-being.
Let nothing, please, delay their treatment now that this administration has decided to cover the medical expenses.
In his response, Governor Ugwuanyi was praised by Prof. Hyacinth Onah, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of ESUT Teaching Hospital, Enugu, for his immediate involvement and consoling visit to the victims "at the most trying period of their lives."
The CMD informed the governor that the management was committed to treating the survivors with care while being represented by Dr. Titus Okpara.
Reacting, some relatives of the hospitalised victims prayed for God’s healing on them and thanked Governor Ugwuanyi for his care and magnanimity, asking God to continue to protect, guide and bless him.
