The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced that Wednesday, June 12 has been designated as a public holiday to observe this year’s Democracy Day.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Aishetu Ndayako, Nigerians were congratulated on the celebration.
The statement also emphasized the importance of reflecting on the contributions of the country's founding fathers and working towards maintaining Nigeria's unity, security, peace, and indivisibility as we commemorate another Democracy Day.
He encouraged Nigerians to stay firm in upholding the principles of democratic governance.
Tunji-Ojo also emphasized that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to implementing beneficial changes to revitalize the country's economy and improve security.
"The minister also urged Nigerians and supporters of Nigeria to acknowledge the achievements that have been made and anticipate a brighter future for Nigeria's democracy," the statement further stated.
