Egypt inaugurated a direct flight between Cairo, Djibouti, and Mogadishu on Friday, aiming to enhance cooperation with the countries of the Horn of Africa.
This move is seen to have political and security implications in light of the developments in the region.
It also demonstrates Egypt's commitment to supporting its security, economic, and commercial interests in the area.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that the inauguration of the direct flight line signifies the desire to strengthen cooperation and ties between the peoples of the three countries.
Additionally, it reflects the longstanding and deep relations between Egypt and both nations.
Ambassador Salah Halima emphasized that Egypt's decision to launch direct flights to Somalia and Djibouti is part of Cairo's plans to bolster economic, commercial, and security relations, with a focus on addressing security threats in the Horn of Africa.
He also noted that economic and commercial interests are secondary to the security concerns, as both Somalia and Djibouti face significant security challenges in the region.
