Damilola Adeparusi, a Nigerian chef residing in Ekiti, has broken Hilda Baci's 100-hour Cook-a-thon record.
The chef celebrated the accomplishment on Tuesday by posting the new record on her Instagram feed.
On June 9, 2023, the chef started her 120-hour cooking marathon.
She apparently finished 15 of the 120 scheduled hours of cooking before becoming the focus of a viral video.
While some online users criticized her for trying to top Hilda's 'yet to be certified' Guinness World Record effort, others praised her for having confidence in herself.
Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the first lady of Ekiti State, posted on social media in support of the chef's quest to beat the record for the longest cooking session with an aim of 120 hours.
Dr. Ayo Arojo, a Nigerian physician, was also drawn to Chef Dammy. He gave him N500,000 as well as a two-week cooking trip to the US.
Using his Facebook page, Chef Dammy, Arojo, announced his offerings, which further boosted support for the Ekiti Chef.
"Chef Dammy has been granted permission to go on a two-week cooking tour in America. I'm eager for her to begin this process!
"Let's continue to support her even more."
