The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, or EFCC, has come under fire from Seun Sean Jimoh for allegedly using celebrities as scapegoats.
He posted on his Instagram page about how only celebrities are penalized for Naira abuse, even though 70 percent of Nigerians are also guilty of it.
He questioned why, from the moment the law went into existence till now, no one was ever caught on camera showering money and being arrested.
Recall that EFCC had earlier issued a statement outlining the specifics of the charges that Cubana Chief Priest is expected to face in court on Wednesday on allegations of money laundering and financial mismanagement and popular cross-dresser Bob Risky has been imprisoned for money laundering and also misuse of funds.
He said that the scapegoat approach to cultural reforms is quite diabolical and shows little concern for the mental health of Nigerian residents, while also pointing out that celebrities are citizens.
He wrote “So no civil rights group can challenge the prosecution of spraying Naira? A long imbibed cultural norm, a practice that is as old as the country itself and has deeply rooted cultural imprints.
I understand wanting to curb the transactional sale of Naira for Naira at parties, but to say people should stop spraying money at parties is almost at loggerheads with our deeply rich partying culture!
There just be way around".
