Telegram Targets 1 Billion Users Within a Year, Says Founder

Telegram, a cloud-based messaging platform is targeting 1 billion users. 

According to Telegram founder Pavel Durov, the app is expected to surpass one billion monthly active users within the next year. 

Durov made the comments during a recent video interview with Tucker Carlson on X, formerly Twitter on Tuesday. 

He said, "We’ll probably cross 1 billion monthly active users within a year now,”

Telegram which currently boasts of 900 million monthly active users will remain a “neutral platform” and not a “player in geopolitics,” Durov added. 

Asides been a messaging app, Telegram's focuses on encryption and data privacy. 

The platform also allows large group chat capabilities and file-sharing options for large sized organization and influencers with large following. 

Durov's prediction highlights the platform's increasing popularity and its potential to challenge established messaging giants.
